Home Coaches Award |
The Build Our Ballpark Coaches of the Year Award recognizes the great men and women of the Waterloo-area that give their time and effort to coaching youth ballplayers. If you have a coach that deserves to be recognized for all their hard work, choose a category from the drop-down menu, fill out the form and submit an essay. All Waterloo-area coaches are eligible, based on categories below.
Coaches will be evaluated based on the three criteria to the right, so make sure to consider those questions carefully when writing your essay. Please keep essays to 500 words or less.

Sportsmanship: Sportsmanship means to respect the players, the umpires and the other team. Win or lose, was your coach a good role model and a good sport?
Above and Beyond:
What makes your coach so special? Give an example of how your coach has gone above and beyond what was expected.

Rules: Nominees for The Build Our Ballpark Coaches of the Year must be a Waterloo coach in order to be eligible to win. The nomination deadline is July 13, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. At that time, all essays will be collected and those coaches whose names were submitted will receive notice that they have been nominated. Our selection committee will review the essays and select a winner in each category, for a total of eight awards. The number of nominations a coach receives will not influence the judges. Instead, entries will be judged on the leadership, sportsmanship, and above and beyond examples shared in each essay submitted.
All coaches and nominators are invited to attend an Appreciation Ceremony on July 28, 2011 at 5:15 p.m. at the Cedar River Youth Sports Complex; rain site is the Waterloo Boat House. At that time, winners will be recognized and awarded. |
